In today’s world, we have hundreds of different little distractions and responsibilities. Some people, like me, delay important task and decisions – and only make up our mind when we’re inspired or enraged to take action, or simply when it’s convenient like when we have to vote for new leadership.

Government’s and the big business’s today live in a world of risk managementwhere they calculate how big of a risk there is, that you might get pissed offabout some of the decision they make. They count on the majority of the population to waddle through life eating up most of what’s in their specially designed news feeds on social networks and from their favorite media. They try to be as vague as possible about important issues so as many people as possible can interpret it to fit their values.

That’s why it’s important that you make a clear and conscious decision about what kind of world you want to live in by supporting an organization that works full-time on pressuring government’s and big business’s today that the people of the world, you, want them to make sustainable and morally conscious decisions.

If you don’t they will attempt to push you in whatever which way will make them the biggest profit, hoping they made small enough waves for you to not care.

That’s why I want people, like you, to make a decision and put it into writing – What kind of world is it you want to live in? What kind of future do you see?

If you don’t make a conscious decision about these things, you might one day wake up and realize you’ve slowly been pushed down a path you don’t like and don’t agree with.

Walters Travels for WWF

Unicef

UNICEF, or the United Nations Children’s Fund, actively works to protect children’s rights, to help them meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential , as well as to promote equal rights of girls and women and to support their full participation in the political, social and economic development of their communities.

They work in 190 countries and territories and have spent 70 years working to improve the lives of children and their families.

World Wildlife Fund

WWF focuses its work on the diversity of life on the planet all the while trying to stop the degradation of our planet’s natural environment and build a future in which we live in harmony with nature.

It is one of the world’s largest conservation organizations and has over the last 56 years old invested around US $ 11.5 billion in more than 13,000 projects.

You're doing good.

Why Unicef?

I got hooked 12 years ago when I saw Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boormandrive around the world on motorbikes promoting Unicef along the way. It’s probably no surprise that these to hugely empathetic and fun guys were the inspiration for my own trip. I worked as a sergeant a couple of years ago, where I got the chance to try influence and guide men and women younger than myself in the right direction – it was the best job I’ve ever had. So if I can inspire or provoke anyone to make the same decision as I did, then I’m happy.

I have a fortunate little poop of a Godson called William, he will probably never lack anything but will grow up with the kind of hardships that any starving kid would, as my dad puts it, would trade and arm for.

I’ve passed kids on the street that are about his age, begging for money without really knowing what they’re doing. They just know they have to stick out their hands. It’s because of them, and every other unfortunate kid around the world that you should make a decision and give a donation. It’s for all the girls and women who are oppressed by idiots with bigger muscles than brains to live a life that belongs in the 20th century.

Watch the documentary Long Way Round – It will without a doubt hit you with a case of restless feet, and at the same time inspire you to support a great cause like Unicef.

Why WWF?

I choose to part of WWF because they work towards sustainable solutions in all aspects of the environment:

To the critics!

Today it’s big business to discredit environmental organizations, words like sell out, buyout and greenwashing are plastered all over the web. There are thousands of different organizations and just as many critics. I’ve read through blog after blog, and watch way too many videos made by people trying to make persuasive arguments about why one organization is in the pocket of big business and the other is just crap.

Throughout all of it, I found one common trait among most of the critics. They’re all saying who not to support, and conveniently forget to tell you, which organization is worth your time. Being critical is good, but it negates the purpose of working for sustainable environmental solutions when you only criticize.

Some say businesses are buying a green image – well, I say good! If twice as many people made a choice and cared about the environment, the business’s today would have to pay a lot more back to the environment for their green image.

The best way to get anything done in today’s world is if you get organized together with other people, so the people in power have to take into account how you want to live. Watch the video, it explains it better than I ever could.

I hope...

I hope friends and family around the world understand that making a decisionto actively take an interest in the environment ultimately is to improve human lives on the same level as when you donate to improve lives through organizations like Unicef or Amnesty International.
